Exciting News and A Call for Support!

Earlier this year, we were granted 501(c)(3) status—a significant milestone that secures our future and ensures fiscal responsibility. Demand for our work has never been greater, which is why I am asking you to support our core programs so we may touch more people and further meet demand for new works and community-based dance programs.

In 2012, I was inspired to start my dance company with a two-fold mission. I wanted to create innovative choreography for dance audiences and also provide an outlet for dancers, composers, musicians, and designers to create art in a supportive and professional environment that stretches beyond traditional dance audiences. Through our dance performances and community outreach events, we connect with children, seniors, and other groups who have no access to the performing arts in their daily lives.

In 2018 we are focused on building infrastructure and momentum so we can reach wider, more diverse audiences through expanded touring and community engagements. As we leverage our experience over the last six years, some of our milestones have included:

  • Involvement with seniors where they are most comfortable, in nursing homes and assisted living facilities where they can move and enjoy dance within their daily activities in a safe, handicap-accessible environment.
  • Engagement with children in both schools and our studio with a focus on movement, imagination, and nurturing a love for the arts.
  • Visiting schools to share how dance is created, rehearsed, and refined.
  • Offering open rehearsals for community organizations and open access community classes so all can witness the creation and collaboration of dance at any point in the composition of a piece.
  • Collaboration with composers and performers on new approaches to dance and a celebration of the arts.
  • Removing obstacles to participation in order to ensure all ticketed events are offered at ADA-compliant facilities, providing affordable tickets, and hosting talkbacks, which allow the public to learn about the creative process and deepen the artist-audience relationship.

Will you support our first official fundraising appeal as a registered 501(c)(3)? A generous donor has offered to match, dollar for dollar, every gift given up to $4,000. By donating to Alison Cook Beatty Dance you will be doubling our funds for the future and celebrating our very first initiative as a community-based charity! Every dollar will make a difference.
